Hi Sheila and All!!!
Haven't been on here and sorry 'bout that. been focusing on fluids, proteins, etc. Went to my support group mtg on Thursday..it was a short drive (5min) and good reason to get out of the house. My son got home on Friday, thru all the snow storms, and has been my chauffeur eversince.
I was so busy picking up all my necessities that I wasn'****ching time and I became "whoozy" at Walmart. It had been almost 5hrs since I had eaten so we came home, I ate and took a nap.
I've been getting all my protein in, and fluids but have to really watch that. Nothing has really disagreed with me yet...pureed is the key...chili, chicken, salmon, tuna, etc.
I make instant potatoes with protein powder mixed in then use that as a bed for the pureed proteins...yum for me...thickens it all enough and i like it.
It took me a few days to figure out my meds and how to take them but now the largest pills I break in half, the others I take whole and just space them apart like I do my supplements. Warm liquids go down easier than cool so been drinking some herb teas...ran out of unjury chicken flavor. My rings are getting loose again and very few fingers left to switch them to for a better fit. I actually wore jeans yesterday!! It's been sooooo many years. I was concerned about the waist band being uncomfortable over my "stab wounds" but it wasn't bad.
I'm starting to see actual bones in my shoulders.
I keep a daily journal that the hospital gave me...it keeps track of fluids, proteins, supplements, activity each day.
I get spurts of energy so I clean....my stove top is spotless, as is my oven, refrigerator, bathroom. I've let some things go the last yr due to sluggishness, depression but these bursts of energy are fantastic! I overdid alittle the other day so I spent the rest of the day laying on the sofa. I never had the gas pain feeling in my shoulders. I had quite a bit of fluid edema when I left the hospital but that subsided in a few days.
Been wearing mostly sweats around the house for comfort and warmth.
I really like the canned dark/white meat chicken from walmart...5oz for .98 . I puree that in my bullet. It's moist and higher protein, low fat and low price. One can lasts me a few days. I have a lot of empty space in my refrig now. My little containers take up so little space.
Well, I took enough of everyone's time here, have a good day and I'll try to keep in touch more.

by the way, never rec'd my ornament...hope it comes soon.

Alice, I missed you and I am glad that things are going well for you. It sounds like you are on your way to getting use to your new life. That is a great thing and it just keeps getting better and better. Make time for you and rest if you need to and make sure that you don't over do to much. But it seems like you are doing fantastic. Keep up the great work.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Ohhh   isn't it great, the new feelings of energy.  Being able to do things we couldn't before.  I still marvel at the way I can reach my feet and tie my shoes without going into contortions...  lol
clothes fit... then don't fit.... for the opposite reason, weight loss not gain.

Enjoy your son for the holidays..  Is he the one with the little girls too?

Hey Alice,

Glad you came out of hiding!!  Good though that it is "just" because you were taking care of yourself......I was afraid that perhaps you were in the hospital again, or not feeling well.

Too bad you haven't received your ornament yet.....hope it gets to you soon!!

Hugs, and thanks for the update.

Alice,  I am glad to see you here again.  I was concerned about you and wondering how you were doing.  It's a wanderful thing how well you are doing!  You take care of yourself and keep in touch.  Merry Christmas!
